So, who has it all together?
Romans 7:14-20, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”
I ask you again, who has it all together?
If we really would sit down and would just be able to look at your life in nonjudgmental way, how would you describe it? Would you say you had it all together or would you say, what a mess?
It isn’t too hard to see that our country is a mess, from inflation, rising interest rates, uncontrolled crime, natural disasters, wars, awful political climate, to just to name a few.
The Apostle Paul was a man that most would think had it all together, but we can plainly see the struggle was real with him. He describes himself in 1Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” Ephesians 3:8, “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;”
We don’t have to look to far in the bible and see that many of the ones used by God were a mess, Jacob was liar, Moses killed a man, Aaron built an idol for the Israelites to worship, David committed adultery, most of the kings after Solomon were wicked, the prophets had issues, Elijah suffered depression, Jonah ran from his duties.
“People are messy”.
Look at the twelve men that Jesus choose to carry on His message. A thief, betrayer, denier, jealous, angry, fearful bunch of followers!
Thank God we are not like that, we got it all together, right?
Rom 7:24, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
1Co 6:9-11, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Rom 5:1-5, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.”
Thank God that Christ died for the ungodly, but He doesn’t want you to stay there!
1Ti 1:12-14, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
2Co 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Eph 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” NLT translation of workmanship is “masterpiece”
God has turned this mess into a Mess-terpiece!
